I-LAB for Covid testing launched in Mizoram

Imphal, Jan. 20 (EMN): Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Imphal launched Mobile Diagnostic Laboratory (I-LAB) for Covid testing in Mizoram on Thursday, according to sources.

The I-LAB was launched virtually by Mizoram Chief Minister, Zoramthanga and Union minister of State (Independent Charge) of the ministry of Science and Technology, ministry of Earth Sciences, Dr. Jitendra Singh in the presence of Mizoram Health minister, Dr. R Lalthangliana, Secretary (department of Biotechnology, DBT), Dr. Rajesh S Gokhale, and Director (IBSD), Prof. Pulok Kumar Mukherjee.

Earlier congratulating Mizoram Chief Minister for dedicating mobile I-LAB for the remote areas of NE, Union minister, Dr. Jitendra appreciated the initiative of secretary (DBT) for providing such facility for Mizoram as the first state in Northeast with IBSD. He mentioned that such mobile testing facilities should be linked to telemedicine in future.

In his address, Mizoram Chief Minister, Zoramthanga thanked Union minister, Dr. Jitendra Singh, while Mizoram Health minister, Dr. R Lalthangliana acknowledged the efforts of Director (IBSD), Prof. Pulok Kumar Mukherjee and department of Biotechnology for providing the mobile I-LAB.

Meanwhile, Secretary (DBT) Dr. Gokhale highlighted the role of the I-LAB for the remote areas of NER and Director (IBSD), Prof. Mukherjee mentioned various initiatives taken by IBSD to fight against Covid and highlighted the importance and features of the I-LAB to facilitate large-scale testing and detection of people in remote areas in Mizoram and other NE states.
