Hüluyi D Vadeo wins SWA championship

Dimapur, Jan. 7 (EMN): Hüluyi D Vadeo clinched the 28th Secheku Wresting Association (SWA) championship held in Thetsümi village under Phek district on January 7.

Vadeo was awarded with a cash prize of INR 80,000, while the second winner Puto Sakhamo from Porba village was awarded with cash of INR 60,000. Winners in the third and fourth position namely Venuo Medeo from Pholami village and Thao D Vadeo from Sakraba village were awarded with INR 40,000 and INR 30,000 respectively.

In the under-16 category, Thuputha Dzudo from Porba, Venutso Sakhamo from Porba and Shetsu Therie from Pholami were declared first, second and third winners respectively.

Earlier, gracing the meet as the special guest, KG Kenye, Rajya Sabha MP, called upon the wrestlers to maintain discipline and enhance their level of moral and good character to keep alive the prestige and image of Naga wrestling.

D Mosonyi Domeh, vice president of All India Traditional Wrestling and Pankration Federation (AITWPF) and advisor, Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) maintained that Naga wrestling has become a kind of festivity in Nagaland.

He called upon the wrestlers to stay focused on physical exercise and maintain discipline to excel.

Kuhusheyi D Vadeo, president of SWA delivered the presidential address while the oath to the wrestlers was administered by CWA technical secretary, Tewetso Tsuhah.

The prize distribution ceremony was led by SWA assistant general secretary, Kerelhi Lohe.
