Home Ministry officials take stock of Manipur situation

[dropcap]A[/dropcap] three-member high level official team of Union Ministry of Home affairs (MHA) who arrived in Imphal to take stock of the Manipur situation in view of the United Naga Council’s indefinite ban on vehicular traffic and National projects construction in the Naga areas in Manipur where the state’s two supply lines–NH 2 and NH 37 passes, attended a meeting with the state officials today.
The meeting was attended state chief secretary PC Lawmkunga, Principal Secretary (Home) Dr Suresh Babu, DGP Manipur Saheed Ahmed, Additional DGP (Intelligence) Santosh Macherla, IGP L Kailun and IGP Clay Khongsai, Director Yaiskul Consumers Affairs Food and Public Distribution, Indian Oil Corporation officials etc. However what has been discussed during the day’s meeting was not known immediately.
The MHA team also held another meeting with Governor VK Duggal at Raj Bhavan in Imphal in the afternoon evening, reports said.
It may be noted UNC’s ban on vehicular traffic was on since 6 am of September 4 forcing the state authority to start rationing of the fuel in Imphal for the second day today while the government is likely to ferry the essential commodities along the blockade riddem Manipur sectors(Imphal-Mao)of NH 2 and NH 37(Imphal-Jiribam)with security escorts.
Earlier, the MHA officials –Special Secretary Prakash Mishra, Additional secretary Rajiv Gauba and Joint Secretary(North East) Sambhu Singh called on the state chief minister O Ibobi Singh at the latter’s office chamber soon after their arrival in Imphal, sources added. Another source revealed that UNC also holds an emergency meeting in Senapati town today. But what has been discussed during the meet could not be established till the report goes to the press.
