Diphu, March 11 (EMN):
Assam minister of PWD, Health and Family and Finance, Himanta Biswa Sarma attended a BJP campaign rally at Government Boys Higher Secondary School playground in Diphu.

In his speech, the minister stressed on maintaining peace and unity among communities. He stated that Karbi Anglong district has much progressed in the last five years after the BJP came to power in the state.

“We remember the state of Diphu town before and how much we have taken it forward. We don’t need to tell anyone as everybody knows it. We have seen the condition of roads when we used to travel from Doboka-Manja to Bokajan or to Dimapur and today we have improved it,” Sarma said.
He added that the government has built mini stadium, cultural complex etc in every member of autonomous council (MAC) constituency, which was not seen before.”

He further stated that all tribes and communities in Karbi Anglong have lived together in peace, tranquillity and unity in the past five years, which according to him is a big achievement.

“Along with peace comes development, and with development people have a contended environment. In this environment, all the extremist organisations of Karbi Anglong have returned to the mainstream,” Sarma added.

Also speaking on Article 244 (A) of the Constitution of India which provided for autonomous state, Sarma stated that the demand of the people has been taken note of. He added that a state university in the name of Semson Sing Ingti would soon come up in the hill district.

BJP candidates from 19-Diphu Bidya Sing Engleng, 18-Howraghat Darsing Ronghang, 17-Bokajan Dr. Numal Momin, KAAC executive members, MACs, party leaders and workers attended the rally.

After the rally, BJP candidates Bidya Sing Engleng and Darsing Ronghang submitted their nomination papers to the respective returning officer at the DC’s office.
