High powered committee led by chief minister formed

Kohima, June 1 (EMN): Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Monday informed that the Cabinet has dissolved the previously existing empowered committee headed by additional chief secretary and formed a high powered committee.
This was decided during the cabinet meeting held in Kohima on Monday.
The chief minister will head the new empowered committee, which will also have the deputy chief minister as co-chair, health minister as spokesperson, chief secretary as member secretary along with other supporting members comprising senior officers.
It will decide on policy matters relating to Covid-19 as well as supervise the State War Room.
The chief minister also said that minister for Planning and Co-ordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs, Neiba Kronu, and advisor for Information Technology and Communication, Science and Technology, New and Renewable Energy Resources, Mmhonlumo Kikon will function as government spokespersons on Covid-19.
“Today we have taken some good decision,” he said.
However, on recent the transfer of principal secretary for Health and Family Welfare, Rio declined to comment, stating “that issue will come later.”
