Dimapur, Oct. 9 (EMN):
The state’s Health department has expressed concern over the “overwhelmingly” high mortality rate among the non vaccinated Covid-19 patients since the second wave, informing that 98% of deaths in the state were not fully vaccinated, while 89% didn’t receive even a single dose.

It also informed that out of 91 confirmed cases among pregnant women in the state, 10 succumbed to the disease with a death rate of 11% and only one had received the first dose.

Meanwhile, the department stated in its bulletin that the weekly Covid positivity rate remained unchanged at 2.1% as the week ending October 8 reported 145 cases and three deaths compared to 180 infections and five deaths in the previous week.

“The weekly sample positivity rate has remained below 5% for the 8th consecutive

weeks,” it stated.

However, a slight increase in the weekly hospitalisation was witnessed with Dimapur reported 15 new admissions, eight each in Kohima and Phek, and seven in the rest of the districts.

“Minimizing large gatherings and observing Covid-19 appropriate behaviours in such settings remain critical,” it stated.
