Health check-up programme held in Bhandari

Dimapur, Feb. 17 (EMN): Under ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhrao’ campaign, Wokha district administration in collaboration with medical department had conducted a one-day health check-up for adolescent girls and awareness programme on pre-natal diagnostic technique (PNDT) act in Bhandari town hall on February 15.
The resource person Dr. Nounenuo Terhase (Obs & Gyn) DMMDH, Wokha, spoke on ‘pre-natal diagnostic technique (PNDT) act,’ ‘teenagers pregnancy and its effect,’ ‘reproductive and sexual health of adolescent.’ Another resource person Shanchobeni Khuvung,

WDLSA penal lawyer, spoke on “protection of children from sexual offences (POCSO) act 2012’ which was enacted to protecting children from offences of sexual assault and pornography. She stated that all offences under the Act are punishable with imprisonment.
She also spoke on the ‘right to free and compulsory education act 2009,’ ‘juvenile justice act 2015,’ ‘protection of women from domestic violence,’ and ‘child labours prohibition and regulation act 1986.

The programme was chaired by Dr. Lawrence, MO of Bhandari CHC, who also delivered the welcome address. Short speeches were delivered by EAC Bhandari, T Sulanthung Lotha, and Dr. Zuben Kikon, deputy CMO, Wokha, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Aotula, dental surgeon of Bhandari CHC.

School children, Asha and Anganwadi workers, Eloe Hoho president and a team from CMO Wokha, doctors and staff from CHC Bhandari also attended the programme.
