‘Hand sanitiser paper soaps’ alternative in Wokha

Dimapur, March 17 (EMN): As citizens across the country stock up hand sanitisers to protect themselves from Covid-19, the situation in Nagaland is no different.

Many have reported of pharmacies running out of hand sanitisers in various districts of the state but a few have “taken stock” of the situation and are helping ease the plight of many.

One such person is Langchibemo Tsopoe from Wokha, who has recently launched ‘hand sanitiser paper soaps’ even as sanitisers have run out of stock in Wokha district.

Tsopoe launched Tongphi Products in 2018 with just one type of soap and has now over 10 varieties. He informed that his company has been registered with the department of Health and Family Welfare and has received a certificate of Importer-Exporter Code (IEC) from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

“Wokha is pretty much out of reach in the state and once we found out that hand sanitisers were running out of stock, we decided to launch these paper soaps,” Tsopoe told Eastern Mirror adding that initially the plan this year was to launch detergent cakes.

Tsopoe, who is also the manager of the company, said that since people cannot go “walking around with bars of soap in their pockets,” he felt that launching the paper soaps would be the best solution.

He also informed that the paper soaps have already been sent to Kohima after its launch on March 14.

“Order for Kohima was pre-booked, so we couldn’t send to Dimapur. But in a day or two, we will supply the first batch to Dimapur as well,” said Tsopoe.

The paper soaps, he said, have been made from herbal plants found in the forest.

“We are using many types of herbs, and butter paper for the paper soaps, and also hand wash ingredients to give more foam,” informed Tsopoe.

As of now, Tongphi Products has produced 2000 packets of paper soaps that include 12 strips each and is priced at INR 10.
