Imphal, April 30 (EMN): One driver was hurt while three oil tankers were hit by bullets when unidentified armed miscreants once again attacked the oil tankers in Manipur on Sunday morning. However there is no report of any casualty.
The incident took place at a place in between Changoubung village and Kangpokpi town, about 45 km north of here when the oil tankers were passing the area on their way to Imphal from Khatkhati oil depot in Assam-Nagaland border around 5.40 a.m, police sources said. The attackers fired around 7-8 rounds of gunshots during the attack.
The injured driver was identified as Raju Karki who was hit by a bullet on his right arm. All the oil tankers reportedly reached Imphal with security escorts.
A combined team of districts police under the command of state police headquarters conducted a combing operation in the Changoubung area soon after the incident, sources added. However there is no report of any arrest till the filing of this report
Sunday’s incident occurred 12 days after a similar incident was reported from the nearby location along the blockade ridden Imphal-Mao sector of National Highway 2. The state police team had even claimed to have arrested four persons allegedly belonging to Kuki Revolutionary Army in connection with the attack on oil tankers three days after the incident on April 21.
