Dimapur, Nov. 27 (EMN): As an initiative to promote income generation activities for Self Help Groups (SHG), Divisional Management Unit (DMU) under the Nagaland Forest Management Project (NFMP), along with Care Centre for Environment and Rural Poor (C-CERP) organised a two-day event on November 24 and 25.
An update from C-CERP informed that as many as 23 SHG from 9 villages in Peren district showcased and sold their locally grown and developed products during the event in Jalukie town on the theme “Green Peren, Green Growers Meet.” The purpose of the event was to create a common platform for the SHG to sell and exhibit their local products, which included handicrafts, organic vegetables, fruits etc.
It stated that the program was organised in collaboration with Land Resource department, Nagaland Tool-Room and Training Centre and 25 Assam Rifles.
Dr. Naieem Mustafa Mansury, superintendent of police, Peren, and Vineet Kumar, deputy commissioner of Peren, inaugurated the event on day-one and day-two respectively.
In his welcome address, the divisional forest officer of Peren, Dr. Prabhat Kumar, apprised the guests and the public about NFMP activities in Peren district and stressed upon providing good platform on regular basis to the women SHG and more convergence with other departments in the district.
Speaking on day-one, Dr. Naieem Mustafa Mansury appreciated the efforts of the team NFMP under Peren Forest Division for taking the initiative to organise the programme. He also emphasised on the important role of women in income generation activities. On the second day, Vineet Kumar appreciated the SHG for coming forward to participate in such events. He also stressed upon convergence with other departments in the future to organise such events frequently on a bigger scale. He further assured all possible assistance from district administration towards such events.
