Dimapur, Sep. 11 (EMN): Citing an “acute shortage of stenographers in senior level”, the state government had appointed a ‘retired PPS’ as officer on special duty to the home minister on July 1 last, according to the Nagaland Indigenous People’s Forum (NIPF).
In a letter addressed to the chief secretary, the NIPF had stated that RTI reply from the home department has revealed that the ‘retired PSS’, KM Geevarghase has been appointed on ‘fixed basis till March 31, 2018.’
“…as you are well aware of, there are more than 70,000 educated unemployed in the state of Nagaland as per 2016 Employment Exchange Live Register. Moreover, there are hundreds of well conversant stenographers in the state of Nagaland both employed and unemployed. The appointment of retired employed is an unhealthy practice and unfair.
“Therefore your esteem (sic) authority in (sic) requested to immediately cancel the appointment order dated 01-07-2017 of KM Geevarghase, Rtd PPS and to advertise the post and fill-up in accordance with constitutional scheme of employment,” the letter read.
