When you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing.
Matthew 6:3
In this present age the humanist are making their presence felt with their deceptive tactics of compassion, love and unending deeds of charity. They portray their humanistic ideals with an aim to promote the growth of their particular sects and organization. Since their emphasis are on promoting their own self image the virtues of love, compassion and charity are often misused. The humanists are a group of individuals enslaved by their humanistic views. They are influenced by the cultures and ways of the world. They do what they think is right. They feel justified by their actions. The humanist are no different than new age pioneers. What they follow is the doctrine of self justification.
They often get what they want. But what they don’t realize is that they forfeit their own souls by their indulgence in their ideologies. Humanitarian deeds such as providing education for the underprivileged children, helping the poor and needy, visiting and caring for the orphans are well accepted and appreciated by the people. Such people often wins the love and affection of the masses. What is obvious is that such acts for humanity often hypnotizes the minds of the people. Once they win the approval of men, they start encouraging the masses to join them.
Let it be made clear that charitable deeds alone cannot save a person from hell. Though such deeds often wins the sympathy of the people, salvation cannot be attained through it. Everyone knows what love is all about but not everyone knows the significance of it. Good deeds done in the open is good as long as the motive behind it is genuine. Let people not be fooled by the god people do to them. But let them be gifted with wisdom to discern the intention behind it. Here my point is to emphasis the need to do good to people with a genuine concern for them. If the things you do serves their purpose, let them be inspired by your life in Christ. Do good to them not only to meet their material needs but also to fulfill their spiritual needs. If your heart is for them you will be concerned about their salvation. Every good deed done is a virtue appreciable and every good deed done in secret is a virtue admirable. If you are gifted in doing charitable works, let your deeds inspire them to believe in the one you trust.
The good you do to people is the blessing you inherit. Even if you donate thousands of dollars for particular cause, you will likely receive the earthly blessings but you may be deprived of the heavenly blessing which was due to you. The earthly blessings are the things of the world. While the heavenly blessings are of God. It’s a kind of spiritual investment. The more you give the more you get. In the process of giving the additional contribution you make for the cause will make the cause of giving more worthwhile. The good you do to people will be more rewarding when you use the name of Jesus. Your deeds won’t be in vain as long as you don’t seek the praise and adoration of men. Let the good deeds you do be worthy of praise from God. This is the way to be blessed. The things you do for them and the impact you have upon them will make you a force to reckon with. Let your contribution add beauty to the Church of Christ.
