Gaon Bura arrested in connection with murder case in Mokokchung

Mokokchung, Sep. 24 (EMN): A 40-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Easter Phom, whose body was recovered by the Mokokchung Police on September 14.

The special investigation team (SIT), which was constituted to investigate the case, arrested a man identified as Aowati from Molungkimong in connection with the murder case. The accused is a gaon bura residing at Yimyu ward in Mokokchung.

According to the police, the accused has admitted killing the victim in the early hours of September 13.

SP Mokokchung said that the SIT led by Chuba Chang, SDPO Mokokchung, exhibited good professionalism to make the arrest, adding that new techniques and technologies were used to crack the murder case.

The body of the woman, who was reported missing, was recovered from Mokokchung District Jail area on September 14 following a search operation, according to Mokokchung Police.

A murder case has been registered at the Women Police Station Mokokchung under Section 302/326/354 IPC and an SIT constituted to investigate the case considering the gravity of the offence.
