DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 22

THERE could be hope for a parent somewhere in Nagaland who has a child suffering from congenital heart disease. Rotary Club of Kohima is offering free surgery to children suffering congenital heart conditions.
A facility of free heart surgery called ‘the Gift of Life’ is underway at the behest of the club. Rotary Club sponsored three children for a heart surgery each during the three months. A five year old girl from Sakraba village whose treatment the club sponsored was operated upon by Escorts Hospital in Delhi. The surgery was successful and the child returned with her family to the village, the club said in a press release received here today.
Likewise a child of three years from Kohima village was sponsored for surgery in October by the club. The child was operated upon and is recovering well, the club says. The third child who availed the opportunity was a six year old boy from Khuzama village. In November the child underwent a successful surgery at the National Heart Institute in New Delhi. He is said to be recovering well.
As a part of the project , the president of the Club Rosemary Dzuvichu will be attending the National Co-ordination meeting being organized by Rotary Club of Delhi with four state club presidents of Sikkim, Jammu and Kashmir, Imphal and Kohima and the Doctors of Escorts Heart Hospital and the National Heart Institute in New Delhi and the National Coordinator on Sunday in Delhi.
The club has informed the public that families with children suffering from congenital heart disease, in any part of Nagaland, can contact the organization for a free heart surgery.
