Four youth drowned in Kiphire

Dimapur, April 25: Four boys were drowned in Züngki River at Quarry Road on April 25, which is located approximately 19 km away from Kiphire town.

The victims have been identified as Tsikhali, Suliba, Azise, and Apili. According to a source, the police along with district administration officials rushed to the spot at around 1.10 pm and reportedly found the bodies of the four already fished out of the river.

The source told Eastern Mirror that the incident occurred when a group of youth went for a picnic at Quarry Road on Thursday morning.

The victims entered a deep gorge and could not get back to safety, the source informed adding that some workers stationed at the same location saw the four drowning and retrieved the bodies.

After completing all legal formalities, the bodies were handed over to the family members.

According to a police official, ‘an unnatural death case has been registered and is under investigation.’
