Five couples solemnised in first mass wedding at SBCZ

Dimapur, Oct. 6 (EMN): The Sumi Baptist Church Zunheboto (SBCZ) held its first mass wedding on Thursday where five couples were solemnised by SBCZ pastor Dr. Hutton Sumi.

SBCZ in an update informed that the church official who solemnised the mass wedding said “the church was doing it for a better cause and added that one of the reasons was time constraint.”

According to the official, 104 weddings were held at SBCZ last year which implies that many office goers and professional workers have missed 104 office days in 2021.

The church also decided to go for mass wedding taking into consideration the financial implications as some church members cannot afford to go for solo wedding ceremony.

“He informed that the overall congregation that turn up for wedding was around 3500 and that this had saved them five days as five couples got married together,” it stated.

The official further informed that the church will have five more mass wedding till December where 28 couples will be married off.

In Thursday’s mass wedding, the programme was chaired by SBCZ associate pastor general Ghunato Asumi, associate pastor  Hilotoli Awomi pronounced invocation,  music committee SBCZ presented a special number and associate pastor Itokato Chophy offered benediction, it stated.
