First headmaster of Dimapur Christian Higher Secondary School passes away

Dimapur, Feb. 7 (EMN): The first headmaster of Dimapur Christian Higher Secondary School (CHSS), earlier known as Christian English School, Rev. Rüüngukho Terhüja, passed away at his residence in the early hours on Monday after a prolonged illness.
He was 88 and is survived by his wife, three sons and grandchildren.
He was born on November 10, 1933, at Khonoma village in Kohima district and was the son of late Vizekho Terhüja, the first pastor of Khonoma Baptist Church. He became the first headmaster of the erstwhile Christian English School in 1966 and served the institution till 1967.
He was the second pastor of Town Baptist Church (TBC) Dimapur, serving the church from 1971 to 1974, before he left for the US to pursue Master of Religious Education (MRE), M. Div.
The late Reverend was the founding member of the first Sunday School at TBC in 1972 and served as Sunday School Superintendent from 1978 to 1982. He was ordained on March 29, 1992 and served the church and the society in various capacities for decades.
His mortal remains were laid to rest at Kuda Village, B-Khel in Dimapur on Monday after a funeral service at the Christian Higher Secondary School compound.

- Vice President of Asian Baptist Federation from 1979 to 1983.
- General Secretary of North East India Baptist Fellowship in the 1980s.
- General Secretary of Baptist Union of India in the 1980s.
- Outreach Pastor of TBC from 1997 to 1998.
