Fire destroys one house in Saringyim

Fire incident in Saringyim
Residents of Sariyim attempt to douse the fire which broke out on Saturday afternoon.

Mokokchung, July 31 (EMN):
A cemented house was completely destroyed in a devastating fire which broke at Saringyim village under Longchem EAC circle of Mokokchung district on Saturday afternoon.

The EAC of Longchem, Yapangmenla, informed that the house belonged to one A Konang Walling, former chairman of Saringyim village council. It was informed that the fire started from the kitchen at around 5:30 pm when the couple was away in their farm.

The EAC Longchem informed that the explosion of two LPG cylinders added fuel to the fire, which completely destroyed the house. She estimated that properties worth INR 20 lakh along with cash were destroyed in the fire incident. She added that an immediate relief of INR 5000 was handed over to the victim.

Saringyim village council chairman, Shiluwati, informed that it took nearly two hours for the villagers to bring the fire under control.

Meanwhile, a joint investigation report from the administration and police informed that cash along with pension, insurance and other important documents were lost in the fire.

It was further informed that an electrical short circuit might have been the cause of the fire.
