Fire destroys church in Old Jalukie

Dimapur, July 9 (EMN): A church building at Old Jalukie Sector-B in Peren district was completely damaged in a devastating fire which broke out on July 8 night at around 2 am.

According to a DIPR report, the fire was suspected to have caused by electrical short circuit. It added that the entire church building with properties was completely damaged in the fire.

Report also stated that the incident site was verified by the district administration, police, ZBCC executives and the public. It stated that cash and properties amounting to approximately INR 12,25,200 was lost in the fire.

In this connection, Old Jalukie Village GB has lodged an FIR to the officer-in-charge of Peren police station and also written to the administration through ADC Jalukie to extend instant relief to the church under disaster management fund or any other related fund to construct a new place of worship for the villagers.
