Final Fantasy XVI, the latest entry in the long-running and iconic franchise, has received a confirmed release date of June 22, 2023. The announcement was made at The Game Awards 2022, along with a new gameplay trailer titled “Revenge.” The trailer features gameplay similar to what has been shown previously, but with an extended look at some of the cutscenes. The game’s marketing has been focused on the summons and gods that play a crucial role in the story and gameplay, and the new trailer gives a glimpse of the gods clashing in real time.

Pre-orders for the game are currently available on the PlayStation Store, with two editions priced at $70 and $80. Final Fantasy XVI is a timed exclusive on PS5, with a potential release on PC in the future. Fans are expecting a great role-playing experience from the game, which is being helmed by Naoki Yoshida, the mind behind the successful MMO spin-off, Final Fantasy XIV.

Final Fantasy XVI is highly anticipated in 2023, as it is a brand new entry in the franchise. At The Game Awards 2022, a trailer was released that showed more of the game’s gameplay and provided a glimpse of the story and exploration segments. Also, fans get a longer and better look at some of the cutscenes in the game’s announcement trailer.

The marketing for Final Fantasy XVI has focused heavily on the summons and gods in the game, which are important to both the narrative and gameplay. The new trailer even showed the gods clashing in real-time, which is one of the most exciting aspects of the game. The release date announcement also includes pre-order information, which is now available on the PlayStation Store.

Final Fantasy XVI is a timed exclusive on PS5, with two differently priced editions being up for pre-order: the Standard Edition ($70) and the Digital Deluxe Edition ($80). The Digital Deluxe Edition offers players the official artbook as well as the soundtrack by legendary composer Masayoshi Soken, in addition to the pre-order bonuses that are included with the Standard Edition. These bonuses include the “Braveheart” weapon, the “Cait Sith Charm” Gil-boost accessory, and the “Scholar’s Spectacles” Exp-boost accessory.

Similar to Final Fantasy XV and Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, Final Fantasy XVI is expected to be released on PC at some point. However, Square Enix has not yet confirmed or provided a release window for the PC version.

Despite not meeting the expectations of long-time fans, the last few mainline Final Fantasy games featured unique moments and interesting characters. Although Final Fantasy XV was large in scale, it did not receive the same level of fanfare as other classics like Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy VI, and Final Fantasy VII. However, the upcoming game is being developed by Naoki Yoshida, who successfully revitalised the MMO spin-off of the series, Final Fantasy XIV, so fans are expecting a similarly engaging role-playing experience from the new title.
