: ‘Farmers Market’ in Indisen village, which was constructed with funds from LADP and contributions from Indisen village, was inaugurated by MLA of 2-Dimapur-II, Moatoshi Longkumer, on October 2.

Speaking at the inaugural programme, Longkumer informed that the ‘Farmers Market’ in Indisen village is a community initiative as it involves the Indisen Village Council and Indisen Baptist Church. Longkumer added that the market was opened with an objective to promote young entrepreneurs and also provide a platform for farmers to sell their produce in order to generate income.

Longkumer informed that the ‘Farmers Market’ in Indisen would strive to maintain a clean and hygienic market environment for both the seller and buyers. He stated that the management would enforce strict transparency in ways of doing the business and added that the market would open for six days except on Sunday. He also informed that the revenue generated from the market would go to Indisen Baptist Church and Indisen Village Council.

Longkumer, therefore, appealed to the citizens of Dimapur to come and purchase their requirements from the market and be part in promoting the economy of the city.

Also speaking at the programme, the deputy commissioner of Dimapur, Rajesh Soundararajan, acknowledged the initiative taken by the MLA for looking into the needs and priorities of the village and helping the project through the LADP.

Soundararajan also attributed the collective contributions of the Indisen village and funds from LADP for the success of the ‘Farmers Market.’

He added that Indisen village is well-organised and has the potential to set an example for other villages to follow.

At the event, the chairman of Indisen Village Council urged the traders to sell the goods at reasonable prices stating that without customers the market would not be successful. Sharing his concern on the wastes to be generated from the market, the chairman appealed to the deputy commissioner to look into the matter regarding disposal of garbage.
