Chief Minister TR Zeliang has condoled the untimely demise of late Bongnao, who passed away on August 9 at Mon town.
Late Bongnao was elected as member of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly in 1993 and again re-elected unopposed from 43-Tapi Assembly Constituency in 1998.
Describing him as a dedicated leader who constantly worked for the upliftment of the people, the chief minister in a condolence message to Mrs Ngapwan Konyak, recalled that Late Bongnao gave the best years of his life to public service who was always accessible to the people.
“In his demise, Nagaland has lost a leader who will be truly missed by all, especially the people of Mon. My wife joins me in conveying our deepest condolences to you and members of your family and pray that the Almighty God will grant you comfort and strength at this time of grief. May his soul rest in peace.”
A separate message jointly issued by Minister, RD & REPA C.L. John and MLA Noke expressed deepest sorrow and sympathy with the bereaved family in the hour of grief.
“During his short span of life, he was proved, undoubtedly one of the sincere, hardworking and bonafide citizen as well as one of a competent public leader in his own capacity with kind hearted, integrity and vast wisdom.
It would therefore be very difficult to fill the vacuum caused by his premature death and his service to the Konyak community in particular and to Nagas in general. Moreover, his tireless voluntary services to society and individual will be heartily remembered by one and all. But no human being can go against the will and wisdom of Almighty, since life and death is in the hand of the Almighty God,” the message said.
