Kohima, Sep. 15 (EMN): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President, JP Nadda, who is on a two-day visit to the state, said north-eastern states have been an area of priority for the BJP- led government and that it is visible through the Act East Policy.
The party respects the feeling of conserving the culture and protecting the languages of the tribes, he said while addressing the BJP party workers in Nagaland at Capital Cultural Hall, Kohima on Thursday.
‘In the last five years, BJP has been able to form governments in four NE states and have been able to retain Assam as well. There has been a massive increase in vote share’,’ he said.
‘In Nagaland, the vote share has increased from 1.8% to 15%, which is an indication of massive enthusiasm among the karyakartas,’ he observed.
The BJP chief said the party does not talk about politics only. Along with it, there are different dimensions in the form of “seva”, he said while acknowledging the state BJP workers for their tireless efforts, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Political parties across the country have now been converted into ‘dynastic parties’. Practically, there is no party left with self quoted ideology. But the BJP (since 1951) is the only party which is consistent in ideology and works with the ideology of integral humanism,” he said.
“Our government (NDA) under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi — we saw to it that Article 370 (earlier applicable to Jammu and Kashmir) is abrogated — and every state is an integral part of the country. That is what we have done”, Nadda asserted.
‘Congress shrinking’
Nadda also took a dig at the Congress by saying that despite being at the forefront for decades, the party “could not understand the regional aspirations” and is now “shrinking” from the base.
Conversely, BJP is “fast expanding” because it is an “ideological party” and it “respects” the regional sentiments and inculcates them, he added.
BJP is now fighting with “dynastic parties” that are “dangers of democracy,” her added.
State BJP President, Temjen Imna Along, told party workers not be narrow-minded but be bold and work hard in their respective mandals and constituencies.
With the assembly elections drawing near, he urged them to stand united, encourage one another, and try to penetrate into all the areas for the party to bloom in the state.
National Spokesperson and Prabhari Nagaland, Nalin Kohli, and Deputy CM Y Patton also addressed the gathering. BJP legislators Paiwang Konyak and Jacob Zhimomi also attended the meeting.
