ENSF unhappy with cabinet sub-committee report on NSSB
Dimapur, Oct. 13 (EMN): Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) expressed discontentment on what it termed as ‘non-fulfilment’ of its charter of demand in draft report by cabinet sub-committee in regard to Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) and has sought immediate intervention of the state chief minister for necessary action.
In a representation to the chief minister, ENSF has strongly disagreed and objected to the recommendation of the cabinet sub-committee meeting on October 5, 2021, alleging that it has excluded major departments from the purview of NSSB. ENSF also highlighted that implementation of the present form of NSSB as per the report of cabinet sub-committee would only open another door for backdoor appointments.
While acknowledging the tireless effort rendered by the committee for incorporating charter of demand Nos. 1, 5 and 6, the federation, however, expressed dismay to note that the committee had submitted the report without fulfilling some of its core demands.
With regards to the reservation policy (ENSF charter of demand No.2), the cabinet sub-committee has recommended for the comprehensive review of the state reservation policy. The federation has reminded the state government to incorporate its charter of demand No. 2 as and when the comprehensive review of the state reservation policy is done.
With regard to its charter of demand No. 3 and 4, the federation has called for inclusion of Group C posts and departments, which are exempted, to be brought under the purview of NSSB. It reminded that the main objective of constituting the NSSB was to put an end to rampant backdoor appointment, which is a malpractice of injustice against the unemployed youths of the state.
While observing that major departments are excluded from the purview of NSSB, the federation stated that the sole purpose of constituting NSSB has been defeated even before it becomes functional.
In the light of the above stated circumstances, ENSF stated that its six federating units was left with no option but to continue with its demand to include all the exempted departments under the purview of NSSB so as to put an end to backdoor appointment in toto.
Consequent upon the failure of the state government in addressing the genuine and legitimate demands (Charter of demand No. 3 an 4), the federation has threatened to resume its democratic agitation till their legitimate demand is fulfilled. It added that the state government would be held solely responsible for any untoward incident.
Meanwhile, the federation’s representation jointly appended by its president, Chingmak Chang, and the assistant general secretary, Kaibo Konyak, have directed any Eastern individual intending to apply for the re-advertisement No. AR-8/NSSB-5/2020 dated Kohima 4th Oct’ 2021 and Advt. No. AR-8/NSSB-1/2021 dated Kohima 4th Oct’ 2021 to refrain from applying. It stated that the concerned individual would be held solely responsible for failing to comply with the directive.
