Dimapur, May 9 (EMN): The Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union (ENCSU) has expressed dismay over non operationalisation of Wakching New Model College in Mon despite its inauguration more than three years ago.

In a memorandum addressed to the chief secretary of Nagaland government, the union has threatened to serve an ultimatum to the state government if the institute is not made functional this academic session (2022).

The union stated that it visited Wakching New Model College along with the stakeholders and student bodies of Mon and Wakching on April 27 this year. The institute, which was inaugurated on February 3, 2019 but it’s been taken care of by Wakching people though it’s government’s duty.

Representations had been submitted to the concerned department and authorities on three occasions, once in 2021 and twice in 2022, appealing to make the college functional by deploying faculty but the department keeps responding that the file is under P&AR (Personnel & Administrative Reforms), it stated.

“So, now the question lies, for how long is it going to be in P&AR department? It can be clearly stated that, the concern department and authorities did not bother about the said college since its inauguration,” read the memorandum.

Stating that the union and the people have been remaining patient with the delay tactics of the concern authorities, it said it “will not stay silent to this ill treatment served towards the people”.
