Employees briefed on forest fire prevention in Kohima

Dimapur, Sep. 28 (EMN): Nagaland state Silviculturist, department of Environment Forest and Climate Change, organised a capacity building programme on forest fire prevention management for frontline staff in the conference hall of Forest Office Complex, Kohima on September 25.

Conservator of forests Dr. Kenei Miachieo, who presented the keynote address at the programme, stressed on the need to have a direct line of communication between the villages and the department especially the frontline staff, informed an update from DIPR. He also mentioned that one has to take advantage of technology for uninterrupted flow of information for early detection, prevention and suppression of forest fires.

Resource persons, state Silviculturist Lhinghoikim Touthang spoke on “Forest Fire Prevention Management”; DFO Kohima Rongsenlemla Imchen on “Forest Fires of Kohima”; and working plan officer Samom Khelen Singh on the topic “Use of technologies for early Fire detection”. Forester I, Sunep and deputy ranger Imtimar Walling gave a demonstration on fire fighting equipment.
