Eight teachers recognised with Nation Builder award

Kohima, Sep. 8 (EMN): In a first of its kind, the Rotary Club of Kohima awarded eight teachers with the Nation Builder Award on Thursday.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Rosemary Dzuvichu, president of Rotary Club, Kohima, expressed happiness to recognise the eight teachers, both from government and private schools in Kohima and Peren districts.

The award from Rotary International Literacy Mission and Rotary India Literacy Mission, is part of the Rotary’s focus on education, schools, and teacher-support programmes. The award carries a citation, a Rotary National Builder Award certificate signed by top Rotary International representatives and cash token from Rotary Club of Kohima, Dzuvichu added.

She acknowledged the spirit of teachers in building up children.

‘Teachers are often neglected, yet the great patience they possess for school children is a virtue one admires’, she added.

“Our best memories are of our school teachers and our schools that create the foundation of who we are”, Dzuvichu said and congratulated the awardees.

Nagaland government schools still have a long way to go in terms of infrastructure and facilities for government schools, students, and teachers, she went on to add.

The eight Nation Builder awardees are Ramesh Thapa (Alderville Higher Secondary school), Pelingrangle (GHS DC Colony, Peren), Mercy Konyak (Don Bosco Higher Secondary School), Tiasangla Lemtor (G Rio School), Kevilhousenuo Chiesotsu (Government Middle School, Meriema), Theyievino Whiso (CD King Secondary School), Honoli Y Sumi (GMS Forest Colony, Kohima) and Kekhrieletuonuo (Bethel Higher Secondary School Kohima).
