DIMAPUR — East Zone clinched a thrilling six-run victory over South Zone in the Senior Women’s Inter-Zonal T20 Trophy at the Nagaland Cricket Ground, Sovima, on Wednesday.
A composed team effort with both bat and ball helped East Zone defend their total in the final over to seal a crucial win.
Opting to bat first, East Zone posted a solid 158 for 4 in their allotted 20 overs. T Sarkar top-scored with 40 off 32 balls, while Tanmayee Behera (39 off 26) and Dhara Gujjar (31 off 19) added valuable runs in the middle order to steer the innings.
For South Zone, Sahana S Pawar was the most effective bowler, finishing with figures of 2 for 21 in four overs.

In reply, South Zone fought hard but fell short, ending at 152 for 6 after 20 overs. Niki Prasad stood tall with an unbeaten 54 off 41 balls, keeping her side’s hopes alive till the end.
However, East Zone’s bowlers held their nerve, with Mamta Paswan delivering a decisive spell of 2 for 21, while Saika Ishaque chipped in with 3 for 39.
Paswan’s performance earned her the Player of the Match award.
