Drunken driving leaves seven injured; damages 4 vehicles

IN a case of drunken and reckless driving, seven persons were injured, two seriously while also five stationary vehicles damaged by a speeding Maruti Alto at Old MLA Hostel Junction Kohima this evening.Sources revealed that the speeding alto (WB02-2972) driven by Mhasivilie Angami (28) of Kohima Village not only ramped into five stationary vehicles but also struck drivers standing by their vehicles and pedestrians moving around.
Seven persons, including two females were injured. Five of them were released after first aid, but Veta Chakhesang and Raj have been admitted in the hospital with serious leg injuries.
The damaged vehicles included four zonal taxis and a private vehicle. The accused was reportedly in an inebriated condition when the incident occurred. He is under the custody of North Traffic Police and investigation in progress, sources added.
