Dimapur, Aug. 22 (EMN):
A skill development programme for unemployed youths, stated to be the 30th batch, was inaugurated on August 21 at the Don Bosco Tech Aida centre.

The president of the Dimapur Naga Students’ Union, Sedevilie Angami, was the special guest, a press release from the Don Bosco Tech Aida Centre stated.

Speaking during the event, Angami expressed happiness that the trainees were being helped to develop not only skills but also their personality.

“You may not have what others have in terms of qualification and knowledge, but with the help of Don Bosco Tech if you try your best and continue to work hard you will be successful persons one day,” the press release quoted him as having said. “Time is precious so don’t waste it. Even if you have a least qualification don’t feel small. Your determination will take you to greater heights.”

Brother Sunny, regional head of Don Bosco Tech for Dimapur spoke about Don Bosco Tech and the skill development programme, which was started in 2010 for the less educated, unemployed youth. He informed the gathering that Don Bosco Tech Aida has trained and placed more than 2,200 youths.

“Though our candidates are with low education qualification we have been able to place them in reputed companies across the country,” the press release quoted him as having said. “Nearly 20 alumni of Don Bosco Tech AIDA centre are working abroad in various international hotels and cruise lines.” He urged the trainees to “move out of comfort zone and face challenges,” the press release stated.

Don Bosco Tech provides skill training to unemployed youth in a number of fields. It collaborates with the NSDC and various sector skill councils for assessment and certification, the press release stated.

“Skill development programme for unemployed youth, batch 30 began on 22 July 2019 with domains – hospitality, food and beverage service, steward and assistant beauty therapist,” the press release added.
