Dimapur, Oct. 23 (EMN):
The Dimapur Lotha Students’ Union (DLSU) has appealed to the general public not to indulge in “illegal activities” at the Multi-Disciplinary Sports Complex (MDSC) in Dimapur but allow sportspersons to practice and play without any disturbances.

More than 100 volunteers of DSLU and its affiliated units conducted a cleanliness drive at MDSC on the theme ‘Clean Dimapur’ on Saturday in collaboration with Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) and District Sports Officer.

The president of DLSU, Bethungo Lotha, shared that “illegal activities” distract enthusiastic sportspersons who come to play on the ground.

Stating that there are not many national players from Nagaland, while the neighbouring states are excelling in sports, producing international players, he appealed to the public to “let the players practice without any disturbance”.

He appealed not to indulge in any illegal activities like drinking and playing of loud music after the permissible hours. He also requested the public not to throw plastic waste and bottles in the grounds.

There are institutions and hostels around the stadium and we are showing very bad examples to students, he said.

He informed that they used clean the ground every year and hold tournaments but had to call off last year due to the pandemic, and so the waste has increased in the vicinity.

Further, he appealed to the state government “to sort out whatever problems they have” and complete the stadium for the betterment of sportsperson.
