Disastrous to live as divided people — Imna Along
Our Correspondent
Kohima, May 16 (EMN): Minister for Higher Education and Tribal Affairs, Temjen Imna Along on Monday said it would be ‘disastrous’ for Nagas of Nagaland to live as divided people in order to prosper, not only culturally but politically and socio-economically.
He was addressing the launching of a collection of poems –Pigments written by Rukulu Kezo and Vezolu Puro, at CUE Academy, Puro Complex, PR Hill in Kohima.
He said young people need to put their thoughts into words and actions in the right and practical way for a strong Nagaland.
Imna Along stressed on the need for the people of Nagaland to write their own stories without tribalism, hatred and hypocrisy, adding that a society can only grow if people are determined for the betterment of others and understands in depth what one does.
The minister observed that peer pressure among young people has taken a great toll on the present generation and they have started to adopt wrong narratives of living life. He asserted that ‘the narrative that we build for the people should be of honour, integrity and ways and means that honours each other and not of tribalism and groupism’.
He also pointed out that the youngsters and students are losing their roots. He opined that a strong Nagaland lies not on the bourgeois but through the progression of the people and human resource towards understanding inclusiveness and assimilations of facts and truths.
Earlier, Dr. Vizovono Elizabeth, freelance editor and researcher made a presentation of the authors; while the two authors — Rukulu Kezo and Vezolu Puro — made the authors note and shared about what inspired them to write.
