Dimapur to host workshop on waste management rules

Dimapur, July 15 (EMN): A two-day capacity building workshop on waste management rules will be held at Hotel Acacia, Dimapur on July 17 and 18.

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF & CC) along with the National Productivity Council (NPC) is organising capacity building workshop on Six Waste Management Rules, 2016 in 20 cities in the country, and Dimapur too has been selected for the programme, informed Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) in a press release.

The capacity building workshop in Dimapur will be held along with the DMC, informed the update.

The Six Waste Management Rules, 2016 notified by MoEF & CC are: Plastic waste management rules, 2016; e-waste (management) rules, 2016; bio-medical waste management rules, 2016; construction and demolition waste management rules, 2016; hazardous and other wastes (management and transboundary movement) rules, 2016; and solid waste management rules, 2016.

The capacity building project aims at strengthening institutional capacities at ULBS and amongst the stakeholders towards collection, treatment, disposal and efficient management of various types and categories of wastes, promote 3Rs (reduce, reuse, recycle) initiatives and dissemination of good practices and facilitate integrated efforts towards achieving improvement in general health of city environment etc., according to the press release.
