Dimapur Goods Transport Association to cease functioning
Dimapur, Sep. 21 (EMN): The Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CNCCI) and Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) have said the Dimapur Goods Transport Association (DGTA) will cease to function both officially and unofficially till the two apex bodies investigate the allegation on the transport association.
The decision was taken at a joint emergency meeting of the CNCCI and DCCI, according to a press release issued by the presidents of the two trade bodies on Tuesday. They said the meeting was called as “it involved in interstate transportation and based in Dimapur”.
However, the individual transporters have been directed to continue with transportation activities to ensure that there is no shortage of essential commodities.
The trade bodies have also convened a meeting for all transporters that are in as well as outside the association at 2 pm on September 25 at Hotel Saramati, Dimapur. It added that any transporter failing to attend the said would be strictly dealt with.
Meanwhile, Vice President of DGTA, Mughavi N Zhimomi issued a press statement on Tuesday, alleged that six armed persons claiming to be from a certain Naga political group had attacked his residence on September 19 and assaulted his minor child while he and his wife were away.
He claimed to have encountered intimidation and extortion incidents earlier this month.
He also refuted allegations that he was collecting money in the name of NPGs for his personal benefit and denied ‘accusation that he is a Tatar of Khango-led NSCN ’.
Whatever dealing with whichever section has always been purely in the capacity as the vice-president of DGTA representing the collective decision of the union and has nothing to do with me personally. I therefore rest my case to the people to judge,” read the press release.
