Dimapur board lists COVID-19 precautionary measures

Dimapur, March 4 (EMN): The monthly meeting of the Dimapur District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) for the month of March was conducted on March 5 in Dimapur. The chairman of the meeting was Dimapur’s Deputy Commissioner Anoop Kinchi.

The department of Information and Public Relations (IPR) gave updates to the media on Thursday informing about the details of the meeting.

During the meeting, the chief medical officer for Dimapur, Pangjung Sangtam highlighted the precautionary measures citizens can take against the coronavirus or COVID 19. The health official explained that the COVID 19 is primarily a respiratory virus, spreading through respiratory droplets.

Sangtam advised people to maintain very strict ‘respiratory hygiene,’ the IPR stated. Explaining on the technique for washing hands, he said hands should be washed frequently for 20 to 30 seconds.

“Wash the palm, the back of the hand, fingers, thumb, wrist and use alcohol-based sanitizers,” Sangtam said. He advised drinking plenty of water and good food for building strong immune system.

He informed that the district task force formed on January 29 was ‘fully prepared with identification of isolated wards’ and sufficient ICUs at Referral Hospital, military hospitals and district hospitals. Rapid Response Teams are also working at the airport and passengers are being screened with thermal scanners on their arrival at the terminal, he informed.

In other matters, the deputy commissioner of the district spoke about the presence of brick kilns and stone crushers in residential areas. Kinchi said that the departments would be implementing guidelines and regulations in said regard.

The official felt also that the registered societies need to provide volunteers in times of need and emergencies to validate the purpose for their formation as societies to help different sections of the people, the IPR reported.

Dimapur police commissioner Rothihu Tetseo also spoke about inconveniences that may be experienced by commuters due to the ongoing road construction work in Dimapur city.

However, he felt that one should have to ‘obey National Highway Rules’ as recommended by the technical experts, the IPR stated.

In another matter, the police official cautioned people against circulating videos that may cause ‘problems’ in the society and reminded that such activities are punishable under the law, the IPR stated.

The Social Welfare and Police (Traffic) departments have been entrusted to ‘present their activities’ in the next DPDB meeting, the IPR stated.
