DC Kohima notifies on checking of ILP

Dimapur, Nov. 1 (EMN): As per the government’s directive for regular checking of inner-line permit (ILP), the deputy commissioner of Kohima, Shanavas C, has notified on measures to ensure that the provisions of ILP are being adhered to by all concerned.

A DIPR report stated that periodic checking of ILP would be conducted in all parts of the district and for which Kohima District Special Task Force for detection of illegal immigrants and ILP defaulters has been constituted.

It informed that Kohima town team-I would be headed by SDO (C) sadar as convenor with SDPO North and DBs as member secretary and members, while

Kohima town team-II would be led by SDO (C) HQ as convenor with SDPO South as member secretary and DBs as members and Kohima town team-III team would be led by EAC sadar as convenor, OC North as member secretary and DBs as members.

The Chiephobozou ADC sub-division team would be led by ADC of Chiephobozou as convenor, OC of Chiephobozou as member secretary and DBs as members, while Jakhama SDO (C) sub-division team would be led by SDO (C) Jakhama as convenor, OC of police station Khuzama as member secretary, and DBs as members and Sechu-Zubza SDO (C) sub-division team would be led by SDO (C) Zubza as convenor, OC police as member secretary and DBs as members.

The task force constituted would ensure that verification drives are carried out at regular intervals to detect ILP defaulters and illegal immigrants and prosecute them under the relevant provisions of the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation Act, 1873, it stated.

As per section (2) & (4) of the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation Act 1873 and government notifications, every non-native person entering the demarcated inner-line is required to obtain a permit and hence regular checking at Sechu-Zubza are to be conducted to detect any defaulters.

The special task force would ensure that the monthly report is submitted to the deputy commissioner of Kohima after the completion of the verification drives.
