Dimapur, Aug. 15 (EMN): In pursuance to the directive of the Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety and in the interest and safety of the public, Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of District Road Safety Committee, Dimapur, Kevekha Kevin Zehol, informed that traffic violations and offences regarding helmets, seatbelt, mobile phones, dangerous driving etc would be strictly dealt with, while he also directed the enforcing agencies to impound driving licences of violator and be forwarded to the concerned licensing authority for necessary action.
A DIPR report quoting the notification stated that DC has restricted over loading other than the prescribed carrying capacity mentioned in the registration certificate permit. He informed the owners of school buses including school-owned transport buses and three wheelers to adhere to the notification adding appropriate action would be initiated against all defaulters. Owner of the vehicles are informed to prominently display the seating capacity of the vehicle in such a manner that it is clearly visible to all the passengers.
The school authorities are also informed to ensure that under-aged students do not drive motorised vehicles to reach the school and to take appropriate action under the law against the owners who allow their vehicles to be driven by under-aged students.
