Kohima, Jan. 19 (EMN): The Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) has reaffirmed its decision for an independent sovereign state of the Nagas based on the plebiscite of 1951.

The decision to this effect was taken during the meeting of the CPO resolution committee for the 75th anniversary celebration held on December 17. The anniversary was celebrated on the theme “Recognise, celebrate and inspire.”

A CPO’ statement, in a release issued by its president Mikha Kenye and the general secretary Veduvo Rhakho on January 19, stated that the resolutions were further deliberated in the executive council meeting on January 9 at Phek town hall and presented before the general body meeting of the CPO adding that the same was approved on January 10 during the 75th celebration of Chakhesang tribe.

The house resolved to “Recognise, celebrate and inspire” God’s mercy and faithfulness to the Chakhesang community. It also resolved to acknowledge the contributions and sacrifices of its leaders- past and present- who have made the Chakhesang community of what it is today. Besides, it also resolved to always “Recognise, celebrate and inspire” the timeless principles of honesty and hard work culture given by God as well as to preserve the rich biodiversity.

CPO also resolved to take up the ongoing developmental projects with greater vigour at Phek and Dimapur and also extend all possible support to the building project at Kohima to expedite completion within 2021 and 2022.
