A sample collection booth that is been set up at the District Hospital in Tuensang.

Dimapur, April 23 (EMN): A Covid-19 sample collection booth was installed at the District Hospital, Tuensang on April 22.

 The project was initiated and donated by the district administration of  Tuensang, an update received on Thursday from the district media officer informed.

The District Health Society thanked the district administration for taking the initiative and construct kiosk in the district for the safety of health workers.

District admn. trains Covid-19 volunteers

Mon district administration conducted training for  Covid-19 volunteers on Thursday in the Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall.

The training which was conducted in two batches comprised of Red Cross, Youth Club and Nehru Yuva Kendra volunteers and grade-IV government servants requisitioned for Covid-19 duty, informed  DC.

The volunteers were trained on delivery of essential commodities. They were also briefed on contact listing and tracing, the various task forces and committees set up in the district and the role played by the district and sub-divisional war rooms.

Altogether 88 volunteers attended the training altogether.

District task force meet: Essentials relaxed with strict guidelines

Mon District Task Force for Covid-19 held a consultative meeting at the Additional Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall on  April 22.

During the meeting, the members present have decided to allow movement of non-essential goods trucks, following procedures and guidelines given by the Central and state government, an update from Tizit Additional Deputy Commissioner Pakon Phom informed.

All the border areas are to remain sealed, however, essential and non-essential goods carriers will be allowed to ply after disinfecting at the entry points.

It also decided to bring back the students and other citizens of the district stranded in Dimapur, Kohima and other districts, and for this Nagaland State Transport department will provide buses to evacuate them.

During evacuation, all the concerned are to follow the guidelines laid by the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) legislature and civil societies — screening to be done upon entry, returnees as well as HODs and other office staff returning to the district to mandatorily follow 28 days quarantine guidelines.

With regard to operation of tea garden, it was decided that the tea garden can operate with only local labourers.

For transportation of tea leaves, only permitted vehicles will be allowed to enter with lone driver from Assam, to report at the check gate before 8 am,  to disinfected vehicles and halt for six hours, vehicles will be allowed to enter tea garden after 2 pm, and drivers are to report at the check post after pickup.

The meeting was attended by Transport, Civil Aviation & Railways and Land Resources Minister Paiwang Konyak, SIRD, Fire and Emergency Services, Relief and Rehabilitation Advisor Pohwang Konyak, district administration officials, chief medical officer and representatives from various NGOs.

Meanwhile, Pohwang Konyak provided fire brigade personnel and fire engine truck to be stationed in Tizit for disinfecting goods carriers during lockdown period.
