Dimapur, April 10 (EMN): As a preparatory measure to fight the Covid-19, legislators and district task force (DTF) in Kohima district visited the isolation wards/ health centres located in Western Angami area on April 6.
The officials undertook the mission to assess on the availability of medical facilities and also to examine the status of preparations undertaken at the centres, a DIPR report stated. The team was led by minister of Housing and Mechanical Tongpang Ozukum and advisor to Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Dr. Neikiesalie Nicky Kire. They were accompanied by MLA Keneizhakho Nakhro, DC Kohima Gregory Thejawelie, senior SP of Kohima K Sophie, CMO Kohima Dr. Vezokholu, and other DTF members.
The team visited the isolation wards/ primary health centres at Jotsoma, Khonoma, Mezoma and Sechü. During the visit, Ozukum and Dr. Kire interacted with the healthcare workers and community leaders and lauded their efforts regarding preparedness and precautionary measures undertaken at the village-level, monitoring and safeguarding their villages.
They further appealed to the healthcare workers and community leaders to continue to create awareness and sensitise the people on the importance of strictly following the government’s guidelines and directives in their respective villages.
The medical officials, healthcare workers and community leaders highlighted the availability of medical facilities and preparedness status of their respective villages. They also highlighted their requirement like more medical facilities in regard to equipment, medicines and medical personnel at some centres.
Meanwhile, leaders of Western Angami Public Organisations (WAPO) have thanked the team for visiting the villages and assuring them of necessary action to address their grievances.
