Kohima, Feb. 7 (EMN): Copies of final electoral rolls (both hard and soft copies) were handed over to the representatives of recognised political parties and AEROs to eight Assembly Constituencies — Western Angami, 9- Kohima Town, 10- Northern Angami I, 11- Northern Angami II, 12- Tseminyu, 14- Southern Angami I, and 15- Southern Angmai II — with January 1, 2020 as the qualifying date in accordance with the electoral rules, 1960, on Friday at the Additional Deputy Commissioner Chamber, Kohima.

Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa handed over the electoral rolls along with the amendments to the Assembly constituencies and reminded that the electoral roll is very important as Kohima district will be facing another election soon. She asked the representatives to check the list and share data with the respective electors and apply for corrections if there is any mismatch or error.

Rutsa informed that many new voters, who have completed 18 years of age, have been enrolled. She also asked the officials to inform them if there is a need to delete or add any new name, citing cases where some continue to vote for even death people. “Our state is supposed to be a Christian state and if you do not pay attention to such small details, it gives out a bad picture,” she stated.

Earlier, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Nagaland, Abjijit Sinha, through a press release, informed that the total electorate of the state stands at 12, 02, 307, with 6,06,173 male electors and 5,96,134 female electors.
