Dimapur, Aug. 18 (EMN):
The Indian National Congress (INC) on Thursday blamed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the chief minister of the state for the delay in the Indo-Naga political solution.

In a press briefing held virtually on the party’s Facebook page, the party’s in-charge of Nagaland state Ajoy Kumar said that the then interlocutor RN Ravi and the state government had announced that the negotiations on Naga issue had concluded on October 31, 2019 but the BJP spokesperson Nalin Kohli signed a seat-sharing agreement with the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP).

He alleged that the Naga solution has been delayed as the BJP and the CM “want to take NSCN (IM) group to win election” in 2023. He went to accuse the saffron party of using armed groups to win the election in Manipur this year.

“For the BJP you have to win election even if the nation loses,” he stated, adding that “our allegation is very clear that the BJP, Prime Minister and Home minister are using armed groups to win election in 2023 and that is why there is no solution (sic)”.

He also questioned why the government of India did not disclose the agreement (signed with Naga political groups) to the people of India.

K Therie, president of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), stated that there are nine camps of Naga groups that have signed ceasefire agreement, in Dimapur town itself and are guarded by people with more than 100 sophisticated weapons.

He alleged that the Election Commission and the GoI know about it but “they say that they are under ceasefire, so they can go and capture any polling booth and this has happened in the last four elections and they want to continue with that.”

He further said that the people are subjected to at least 11 governments and multiple tax collectors.

“Government has completely collapsed and there is no law and order in the state but they want to go to election with the support of the insurgents because they enjoying their benefit of extortion and corruptions,” he claimed.

He said that the government of India is not interested in solving the Naga issue.

“We who have been upholding the integrity of India and upholding the flag of Indian Nation, we thought integrity of India is above the political boundary, therefore, we have cooperated the settlement but BJP has just viewed for a political mileage and electoral benefit,” he claimed.
