Kohima, July 24 (EMN): The Combat Sports festival organised by 3E Nagaland will begin from October 22 till the 27th at the Kohima local ground. This was announced by managing director 3E Kethosituo Elvis Mepfuo in a press conference at the Capital convention centre, Kohima on Monday evening.

This year, 3E has introduced Nagaland Taekwondo League in the Sports Combat festival which will be one of a first kind in Nagaland

NagaWrestleMania 7

Unlike the previous editions, NagaWrestleMania 7 (King of the Ring Series), the organisers have informed that there will be no individual category championship but wrestlers in both category who survive up to certain stages of competition will be grouped together to vie for the King of the Ring Championship.

The preliminary rounds will be played separately in categories for lightweight (74 kg and below) and heavyweight (above 74 Kg).

Elvis said the change in format is brought about in order to wind up the event in a day as it is observed that injury sustained in category championships often leads to non-participation in the King of the Ring Championship.  Cash prize details will be notified when registration starts in the later part of August 2018, he informed.

Nagaland Taekwondo League

For the first time in the sports combat festival, the organisers have informed that the Nagaland Taekwondo League will set its debut in the festival.  The event will be organised by Nagaland Taekwondo Association (NTA).

In due course of time, the NTA will announce the date, time and other details of the event. Interested players may either wait for NTA’s announcement or get in touch with NTA officials for more information said the organisers.

X-1 International (Mixed Martial Arts)

X-1 International (Mixed Martial Arts) will also be part of the festival. The X-1 is a new MMA promotion that has been launched recently with a series of fights planned across the country, of which the Kohima show will be one of the anticipated event said Elvis.

He informed that there will be two fight cards – an open card which will be drawn from open registration of interested amateur fighters in different weight classes and a closed card which will be pre-determined with already established fighters vying for the championship titles.

He said the open card participants will also get the chance to climb x-l rankings to carve a career as semi-pro and pro fighters in the future. The registration for open card will also commence simultaneously with the Naga Wrestle Mania 7 in the later part of August.

The Combat Sports festival will also feature ethnic food and merchandise stalls, where the organisers has invited interested parties to contact 3E for management of stalls on tender basis.
