Dimapur, Dec. 13 (EMN): The Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CNCCI) on Tuesday reiterated its stand against “forceful donation drives” and appealed to organisations and groups to refrain from “coercive” selling of lottery tickets and calendars.

‘The global pandemic has deeply affected the business community for two years with many businesses closing down and many incurring heavy losses. While sympathising with them, it is heartening to see the business community is slowly but surely pulling forward. However, the business community will take years to even achieve pre 2020 position,’ an update from CNCCI read.

It, therefore, appealed to the organisations to be “humane”, as the business community have “families to feed and will also celebrate the festive season as part of the society”.

Meanwhile, it warned those involved  in “unsolicited threats and coercive activities to raise funds” that there are various government and administration orders banning collection and donation drives, adding that CNCCI will not hesitate to report those activities to the competent authority for stringent action.

The CNCCI further wished the business community across Nagaland and its citizens a Merry Christmas and fruitful New Year.
