CMC Molungkimong emerges champion of 4th Supongmeren memorial volleyball trophy

Mokokchung, Jan. 12 (EMN): CMC Molungkimong emerged as the champion of the 4th Supongmeren memorial volleyball trophy, which was held on the theme, ‘one goal, one spirit’ at Molungkimong village from Jan. 11 to the 12th.
The final match was played between MH 10 Kohima and CMC Molungkimong, where CMC Molungkimong won three consecutive sets of 25-20, 25-19, 25-23 and walked away with a cash prize of INR 50,000, while the runner-up received INR 30,000.
Changtongya Volleyball Association and Khar-B won the third and fourth positions and walked away with cash prizes of INR 20,000 and INR 10,000 respectively.
Earlier, J Lanu Longchar, executive engineer, Water Resources department, who was the chief guest, urged all the players to uphold the spirit of the game and to be disciplined in all walks of life, as the host village also celebrates the quasquicentennial of Christianity.
He further encouraged forgiveness, peace and harmony among friends and villages.
A total of nine teams participated in the tourney, which was organised in memory of the late Supongmeren, who hailed from Molungkimong village under Mokokchung district.
It may be mentioned that Supongmeren was a torch bearer of Christianity in the Ao area and a well known writer in Ao Naga literature, who worked tirelessly to promote education in the society. The trophy is organised to promote the spirit of peace and unity.
