Kohima, May 9 (EMN): Nagaland State Bharat Scouts and Guides (NSBSG), on Tuesday, called on the chief minister, Neiphiu Rio, at his residential office to conduct the reaffirmation of oath as patron of NSBSG in the presence of Er. Zale Neikha, advisor of youth resources and sports, who was also inducted as the president of NSBSG.

Rio, who is also the recipient of the ‘Silver Elephant,’ expressed his delight on availing the opportunity to work together again for the 4th time as the patron.

“It is more a pleasure to serve than to be served. It is my honour,” Rio exclaimed on the occasion.

Recalling his young student days in the early 1960s as a scout, the chief minister expressed his appreciation to the Scouts and Guides for their selfless service in numerous ways.

“It is a pleasure to see young people in uniform serving the people. Their uniform projects a sense of responsibility,” Rio said and added that it is an honour to be associated with young people in the course of public service.

Congratulating Er. Zale Neikha, advisor of YR&S and newly inducted president of NSBSG, the chief minister said that he looked forward to working with young and energetic leaders and assured to extend full support.

Stating that one learns new things when like-minded people work together, Rio hoped that there would be more activities and events in the days to come so that the people could learn more about the Bharat Scouts and Guides.

Delivering his acceptance speech, Er. Zale Neikha expressed his gratitude to the NSBSG for inducting him as the president.

Stating that it was an honour for him, the advisor assured to work to the best of his abilities under the chief minister whom he described as his mentor.

In his brief welcome address, state chief commissioner, NSBSG, Atuo Mezhur Sekhose congratulated the chief minister and the advisor on the occasion and said that the NSBSG looked forward to their support in the days to come.

The chief minister also handed the warrant certificates to Atuo Mezhur Sekhose, state chief commissioner, NSBSG, and to Thejazeü Khruomo, state commissioner (Guides). The induction and reaffirmation ceremonies were conducted by John Tochimong, state organisation commissioner (Scouts).

The programme was chaired by Chubanungla, state secretary NSBSG, while the vote of thanks was proposed by K Neibou Sekhose.
