Dimapur, April 25 (EMN): Phek district conducted a training programme for community leaders, church leaders, youth bodies, representatives from mother association, police and SDRF personnel on the preparedness of Covid-19 on April 24 in the conference hall of the District Hospital Phek.

The training was conducted to make them mentally prepared if any eventuality related to Covid-19 arises in the district, an update from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Phek stated.

The main topics included handling of death bodies, rational use of protective personal equipment (PPE) and mask, and quarantine protocols. It stated that participants were also sensitised on the origin and transmission of Covid-19, preventive measures, importance of hand washing and social distancing, cough etiquette etc.

Resource persons namely Dr. Wethselo Tsuhah, Dr. K Kuotsu and Dr. Lanuakum, during their presentations, have appealed to the leaders not to panic or create any issues over any death in their areas stating that dead bodies do not spread virus. The resource persons have also demonstrated on the proper use of mask, hand washing and disposal of waste protocols.

It stated that doubts raised by the participants were also cleared and explained.
Earlier in her welcome address, CMO, Phek, Dr. Vibeituonuo Mepfuo briefed the participants on Covid-19 preparedness in Phek district. She has also sought co-operation from various departments and organisations in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic.

The training was conducted in two batches where the first batch was attended by colony chairmen, youth bodies, administration and SDRF personnel, while the second batch was attended by pastors, dobashis and representatives from mothers’ association.

Altogether, 76 persons attended the training. The same activity would be carried out in all the blocks, the release added.
