Wokha, Jan. 8 (EMN): The 73rd edition of the Chukitong Range Sports Association (CRSA) sports meet, which was held at Chukitong public ground concluded on Saturday.

R Mhathung Ngullie, deputy chief electoral officer, Nagaland, speaking at the occasion, urged the people to continue building strong relationships through sports and expressed his joy at the professional sportsmanship on display.

He urged the young talents to focus and follow their professions while avoiding use of intoxicants which can kill their dreams and bring disunity to the society.

Appreciating the CRSA for organising traditional games at the 73rd edition, he informed them to activate themselves for the 75th edition, which is a milestone and assured to support the organisation in the days to come.

The sports meet witnessed a mixture of traditional indigenious games.

In the men’s tug of war, Nungying village team emerged the winner with Zenka Rentso Tsungiki village as the runner-up. In women’s tug of war, VLO Chukitong was the champion while ‘C’ khel Chukitong was the runner-up.

Nchumbemo Ngullie of Tsungiki village was the winner in the spear throw with Ethungo Humtsoe of Tsungiki as the runner-up.

Khonbemo of Koyio village, Chonthungo Ngullie of Tsungiki village and Thungjanbemo Kikon of Thenyayan village stood first, second and third respectively in the catapult shooting competition.

In football, XI Brothers retained their trophy and became champion for a record seventh time.
