Chuchuyimlang union celebrates golden jubilee

Dimapur, Feb. 8 (EMN): The Dimapur Area Chuchuyimlang Senso Telongjem (DACST) celebrated its golden jubilee on Feb. 8 at Purana Bazaar in Dimapur.
During the event, the president of the Ao Senso Telongjem of Dimapur, L Wati Jamir, said the Chuchuyimlang people are one of the pioneers of the Ao community. They helped in many ways toward the welfare of the Ao community as a whole, he said.
Jamir urged the gathering to be an example of unity, and to do away with jealousy from among one another. They were urged to support other Ao communities besides the Naga people in general.
A representative from the Noksen Union of Dimapur said the Chuchuyimlang and Noksen communities during the earlier days were like brothers and had great bonding.
‘They used to invite one another during festivals and had a good rapport,’ he said but lamented that nowadays ‘we are little bit far apart compared to earlier years.’ The people are forgetting their cultural history, the gathering was told.
‘People are now giving importance to cultural traditions,’ he said, but expressing belief that the communities will come closer like they used to in the olden days and cherish the brotherhood.
During the occasion, a golden jubilee book was released to mark the event. Aoyimti Baptist Arogo’s pastor, P Temsu Jamir, spoke based on the Word of God.
