The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) on Friday sharply reacted to the allegations hurled by Noke led NPF in connection with the statement on the ‘meetings’ of T R Zeliang with the Prime Minister and the national BJP president. “The attention of the Chief Minister has been drawn to the allegations made by the rebel group at Sovima, wherein they had disputed the truthfulness of the oress statement made by the media cell of the Chief Minister’s Office, regarding the meetings the Chief Minister had in Delhi with the Prime Minister and the president of BJP on January 28, 2015,” said the CMO in a press release this evening.
The CMO said the contention of the ‘rebel group’ at Sovima is that the statement has not been issued from the PMO nor the BJP president’s office. “It may be noted that it is not customary for the PMO or president of BJP office to issue official statements about such meetings held at the request of the visitors. It is always the group/ person who seek the appointment to tell the waiting press fraternity the result or outcome of such meetings,” said the CMO while adding, “Hence, there is no departure from normal protocol in the Chief Minister giving information to the press about the outcome of his meetings with the Prime Minister and the resident of BJP.”
The CMO then said that if the ‘dissident group’ does not believe the report, it is up to them. “But if they want to contradict in the press, or term it as false, then they should at least verify it first from the PMO or the BJP president office before coming out with such concocted statement’s, based on their biased imagination,” it added.
“The doubting Thomases are hereby advised to check up from the Prime Minister’s twitter account, where the photograph of the Chief Minister meeting the Prime Minister was uploaded by the PMO on January 28, 2015 with appropriate caption,” it stated. The CMO further claimed that the Chief Minister reiterated that the Prime Minister and the president of BJP had not stated that they are siding with this or that group in the NPF party internal dispute. “The Chief Minister had met them, not to seek their support in the internal NPF party dispute; but to seek their re-assurance that they are interested in continuing the DAN, where the BJP has been an important partner right from the beginning,” clarified the CMO.
He also wanted to know whether they are for change of DAN leadership, in view of the activities and press statements of some of their MLAs and state unit leaders. “Both of them had assured the Chief Minister that they are keen to keep the DAN alive, and that at present, they are not interested in destabilizing the DAN government, or changing the leadership of the present NPF-led DAN III government headed by him”, it added.
The Chief Minister wants to re-affirm that the Prime Minister, in his parting statement, had said to him ‘Don’t worry, I am with you’, claimed the CMO in the statement.
